2023 Value of Biogas West Conference Tour

The CBA is offering a facility tour to compliment the 2023 Value of Biogas West Conference, and a second bus has been added due to demand. Please purchase your tickets here to attend the tour and note that space is limited.

The Lethbridge Biogas site was acquired on June 1, 2022 by SkyMar Biogas Holdings LP (SkyMar). The SkyMar Lethbridge site is a state-of-the-art anaerobic digestion facility commissioned in 2013 to produce renewable electricity and heat. As of July 2021, the facility operates under a 20-year renewable natural gas (RNG) contract with FortisBC.

Recently, SkyMar announced a $3+ million expansion to the facility, including installation of a 40,000 tonne/year de-packaging line to enable processing of residential source separated organics, including leaf and yard waste, and packaged industrial, commercial and institutional waste. Once complete, the facility will be able to accept an additional 40,000 tonnes/year of packaged organic material. SkyMar is scheduled to commission the facility upgrades in the fall of 2023.

With two-bay receiving/unloading buildings, two 1,150 m3 pre-storage tanks, three 3,900 m3 anaerobic digesters and a 5,700 m3 digestate storage tank, the SkyMar Lethbridge anaerobic digestion facility can convert up to 160,000 tonnes/year of organic waste into RNG. 

As this is a full day tour, lunch will be provided for attendees.
